To Remember....
... Duty, Sacrifice
Songs and Stories of Unsung Heroes

This DVD was created by Pat Mendoza to honor all of those veterans “who came before us” and to those “who will follow.” This video is a collection of story, song and visuals that pay homage to some of America’s unsung heroes. From Sam Antonio, the last living Acoma Indian who survived the infamous Bataan Death March to the Army Central Identification Lab Hawaii’s remarkable find of the remains of 19 Marines fifty-eight years after they were buried by the Butaritari people on Makin Atoll during WWII, The visuals in this film take you to those places and times. Angel Fire, America’s first Vietnam Veteran’s National Memorial (established 11 years before the Wall in Washington DC) is a magical place where “spirits come to rest” is memorialized here with a song and the sights of the Moreno Valley in New Mexico.

Other stories include the saga of Bryant Homer Womack, a North Carolina country boy and a pacifist who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor during the Korean War. The Year of the Monkey is a journey back to Boot Camp days in San Diego to the 1968 Tet Offensive, the bloodiest engagement of the Vietnam War.

From World War I to Vietnam this DVD is an hour-long journey that allows us to visit our past  so that we continue “To Remember…Duty, Sacrifice.”

The Native American flute is an instrument of love. The music it creates is haunting and beautiful, as are the songs contained in this recording. CultureBlend (Pat Mendoza, Tom June, with Keith Gill, Neil Haverstick and Steve Wiest) combines traditional instruments from four cultures, 20th century technology and the sounds of mother nature in very non-traditional ways. "These fine musicians have quite literally blended the sounds to create a soothing, peace-instilling listening experience."
--- Isothermal Community College, Spindale, NC

"The subtleties of the outside world are recreated with care on this CD through multi-tract recording of a variety of indigenous instruments. Storm Clouds takes you to the place where "Autumn's ghost is howling in the winter wind."
--- Magical Blend Magazine

"I listen to Indian flute music all day at my shop. This is the most beautiful I have ever heard."
--- Ann Strange Owl, Owner, EaglePlume's Trading Post

*"The flutes used in these recordings were made by master flute maker Larry Spieler, Cristi Coom. Without him my flutes would have no voice. He may be reached at http://www.christicoom.com (if you have problems with this address go to Yahoo search engine then try the address again)Larry makes all of my flutes for I have found him to be the best in the field. He is a true gentleman, whose honesty and integrity are above reproach."
